Our Yoga & Meditation Retreat
Here at Welikande we aim to provide you with a holistic experience – for your body, mind and soul. Secluded in the mountains of Sri Lanka, we welcome you to reconnect to nature and to yourself.
We view yoga and meditation as practices that help you feel harmony within your body and peace in your mind. No matter whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced yogi – we tailor to your individual needs and make everyone feel welcome.
In our yoga classes our teachers will encourage and empower you to work with your own breath and make the asanas work for you. You will learn to listen to your own body and its needs.
Our meditation classes are partly guided to equip you with tools and techniques to gain a deeper understanding of how the mind works.
In the evening we also offer Yoga Nidra – these sessions are progressively designed to take you to a deeper state day by day. Yoga Nidra loosely translates to ‘conscious deep sleep’ and provides healing by releasing negative mental patterns and emotional burdens.
Every day of our retreat there will be a different activity – allowing you to experience the surrounding nature and the local culture. View our schedule for more information.
Welikande Villas is owned and run by Michael, an Englishman by birth and Tushari, his partner, Sri Lankan by birth. It was love at first sight in 2011 for Michael even though 6 houses and 9 acres of land wasn’t what he envisioned when he had come back to Sri Lanka to buy a 'Summer House'.
Since then, Welikande Villas has become an established Hotel and Trekking center.
In recent years guests continued requesting yoga and meditation as the perfect balance for days spent hiking in nature. The idea for a holistic experience was born! Nicola, from Scotland, has since joined the Welikande team as our Yoga Retreat Coordinator. A Yoga and Ayurvedic practitioner herself, she is bringing our Wellness centre to life!
These days Welikande Villas runs a year-round ongoing yoga and meditation retreat – allowing guests to reconnect to nature and to themselves. As well as being an available space to rent for your own groups, workshops, retreats and courses.
